The Green Party has always been against what it considers an illegal and immoral war on Iraq. Now, along with the several thousand Leicester people on Saturday's demonstration march, the party is calling for an immediate end to fighting.
He continued, "The Green Party believe the best way to resolve this crisis and save lives is through peace. To return to a UN process will avoid ordinary Iraqis suffering and also put loyal British troops out of harm's way."
Bob Ball concluded, "There is a wide gap in understanding between the people of this country and the Labour government's support for the USA's war on Iraq. Consequently there is much explaining to be done by the Blair government. Many voters will be able to express their views on war on May 1, in the English council elections." Nightmare Come True
Bob Ball, a party spokesperson, said today: "For the USA-UK governments a nightmare has come true. The Iraq people do not see this a war of liberation. The Iraqi forces are not crumbling and USA-UK military do not know what to do." Lift UN Sanctions
Bob Ball continued, "The Iraqis will get rid of Saddam Hussein in their own good time. However, the UN can help empower the people of Iraq and improve their quality of life by an immediate lifting of UN sanctions."
