Matt Follett braves the fumes Greens brave pollution for votes

Leicester South Green Party candidate Matt Follett demonstrated the Green Party concern about traffic pollution while out asking for votes.

Matt Follett said "Anyone who crosses a road on foot at busy junctions during peak hours knows what it’s like to have to breathe polluted air. That’s why I’ve taken to wearing a protective mask while canvassing for votes."

He continued, "Interestingly, I’ve had a very good reception from car drivers. This should help reinforce the message that the Green Party is not against cars users, but we are against pollution and congestion. Something neither Labour or Liberal Democrats seem willing to tackle in Leicester, sadly."

Green Party policy on cutting car pollution:

  1. Reduce numbers of small journeys by car through better planning and schemes to make walking to school a priority.
  2. Encourage walking and cycling through schemes such as Home Zones, Safe Routes to School, and pedestrianisation.
  3. Assist businesses with greener commuting arrangements for staff
