Matt Follett digs for victory It's 1945 all over again!

Matt Follett – Green party candidate for Leicester South – does his own version of the famous ‘Digging for Victory’ poster.

Mr Follett said – “This year is the 60th anniversary of the end of World War 2, when things like growing your own veg organically were how a nation was fed. The Green Party is delighted that, for example, Clarendon Avenue School in the heart of the constituency has chosen to go to local organic growers for children’s snacks - as reported recently in the Mercury.

Mr Follett was at the allotment of local grower Mr Ian Mitchell, who said, “ I’m very pleased that the Green party wants to stand up for allotments and growing your own food. I’ve a young child at home and I trust the food grown here.”

Mr Follett continued, “The other parties only want to build over allotments - and once they’re gone they’re gone – taking a way of life with them. What would those people who fed a nation 60 years ago make of the fact that supermarkets dominate food production nowadays and that kids eat turkey twizzlers? I believe it is homegrown issues like this which will lead the Greens to victory in this election!”
