The Green Party has selected Geoff Forse as their candidate for the mayoral election on the 5th May.
Geoff, who is 65, has lived in the Woodgate area of Leicester for over twenty years and has been a long term activist for the Green Party.
He has stood in three general elections, two European elections and in every local election since 1991. He has run the Woodgate Resources Centre for the past twenty years, the last seven years as a volunteer after the loss of funding from the council.
Geoff said "if elected I will work hard to protect the public services of the city, ensure that the voluntary sector is protected and supported and to improve the environment of the city so that it justifies the tag "Environment City". He continued "One of my greatest criticisms of Leicester City Council over many years is the lack of consultation with the people of Leicester as shown by the Bow Bridge, the football pitches on Aylestone Meadows not to mention the farcical ‘consultation’ on whether to have an elected mayor. Therefore one of my priorities will be to consult with the citizens of Leicester. I am sure there are many good ideas out there and, if elected, I intend to use them.
